Exceptet wants to play YOUR music!

Furthering our mission of performing and promoting new music for L’histoire ensemble, Exceptet is holding our first ever Call for Scores. Apply now!

We are looking for works including the following instrumentation:

• Clarinet (doubling bass clarinet and Eb)

• Bassoon

• Trumpet

• Trombone

• Percussion (see notes below)

• Violin (doubling alto voice)

• Double bass

Winner(s) will receive:

• Performance of your work in Spring 2026

• Concert video/audio recording of your work

• Opportunity for an in-person or Zoom workshop/rehearsal

Important dates:

• Application is open NOW!

• Submissions will close December 1, 11:59 pm

• Winners will be announced in February 2026

Eligibility: anyone!

Other considerations:

• Open instrumentation works are encouraged, and subset instrumentations (of four or more instruments) will be considered

• Premieres and second performances will be prioritized

• New arrangements of existing works are acceptable! *Note: please submit the arrangement of the work, not the original score

• Practicality of percussion requirements will be taken into consideration.
